GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s cross country team finished 14th at the Mountain Dew Invitational Saturday morning in Gainesville, Fla. Freshman Kelsey Bradley (Denver, Colo.) for the third meet this season, led the Lions individually crossing the line 64th of 125 runners with a time of 20:46.56.  The Lions finished with a team score of 369 points and clocked in with a final time of 1:51:49.48 in the 5K race.

The freshman Bradley has impressed all season and just her male counterpart Buezeville, has staked a claim as one of the top runners in the SSC. She finished just a touch over three minutes behind the meet champion from the University of Florida.

Allison Luthman (Ramstein, Germany) and Julie Carusone (High Spring, Fla.) both finished in the top 100. Luthman finished with a time 21:39.12, while Carusone crossed the tape at 22:44.62.

Three other SLU runners were determined to cross the line. Alison Cary (Mechanic Falls, Ma.), Dana Graham (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) and Mindy Pierce (Germany) displayed the fortitude to cross the line and helped add to the Lions team total score.

Sunshine State Conference opponents the University of Tampa and Nova Southeastern University also competed finishing third and ninth respectively. Champions, the University of Florida, finished five minutes in front of the University of South Florida, who finished second.

The Lions race to their final regular season event before the SSC Championships, at the Disney Invitational from Orlando, Fla. The race is scheduled to begin at 8:55 a.m.
