Dover, Fla. (September 8, 2006) – The Saint Leo University men's cross country team opened its 2006 season on Friday with a seventh-place finish at the UT Early Bird Classic hosted by the University of Tampa.  SLU's men had a team total of 228 to finish just in front of conference foe Rollins College (230).

Division I University of Florida won the event with a team score of 16, while SSC school Florida Southern College was the top Division II finisher with 72 points.

Saint Leo was led by junior Travis Robbins (Jr., Dunellon, Fla.) who ran the four-mile course at Sydney Dover Trail Park in 23:58 to finish 47th overall.

The Saint Leo men's cross country team will return to action at the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida next Saturday, September 16 at 8:00 a.m.
