Adriane Wunderlich is in her first season as a member of the Saint Leo cross country coaching staff. She will coordinate the Lions’ recruiting and on-campus visits and arrange for team travel, in addition to working with all members of the men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Wunderlich joins the Saint Leo staff following three years at Texas A&M-Kingsville, where she coached distance runners for the Javelinas. Under Wunderlich’s tutelage, TAMUK cross country and track runners earned four NCAA Division II All-America honors, three Lone Star Conference individual championships, and set five school records.

Competing in the tough Lone Star Conference, Texas A&M-Kingsville won the 2014 LSC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship with Wunderlich on the coaching staff. The Javelinas went on to post a fourth place finish at the 2014 NCAA’s outdoor track championship, and repeated the fourth place finish at the 2015 NCAA outdoor meet.

While on the TAMUK staff, Wunderlich organized and facilitated daily practices for men’s and women’s cross country and distance runners, and managed the team’s academic study hall.

“Adriane brings a wealth of knowledge to our program, and her experience at the national level will surely help us retain our conference titles,” said Kent Reiber, Saint Leo’s head men’s and women’s cross country coach. “She has demonstrated a passion for learning our sport, and has had success implementing that knowledge into her coaching.  I’m confident that she will make an immediate impact on our athletes, and will continue to build a successful culture.”

“Along with her knowledge of our sport Adriane is very connected with cross country and track coaches around the country which will be instrumental in finding future Lions, as some of our top athletes are set to graduate this coming summer,” added Reiber.

She previously served as a volunteer assistant cross country and track and field coach at Division III Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and served as a graduate assistant at Division I Indiana State University.

A 2010 graduate of Indiana State with a Bachelor of Science in exercise science, Wunderlich was a four-year letterwinner for the Sycamores’ cross country and track team. She served as a team captain in 2010 as a senior, and was an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in 2008. Wunderlich also received her Master of Arts degree from Indiana State in 2012. Wunderlich holds multiple certifications from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
