Rampf runs away in 6K, Saint Leo wins XC meet in squeaker

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo junior Colett Rampf won the individual title of Saturday's Saint Leo Division II National Preview cross country meet running away, but the Lions needed a tiebreaker to fall in their favor to clinch the team championship.

Saint Leo and the University of Tampa were tied with 54 points each, with the team award decided on the basis of head-to-head matchups among scoring runners – which the Lions won, 3-2.

Palm Beach Atlantic was third with 116 points, followed by Florida Southern (129 pts.) and Augusta University (130 pts.)

Rampf won the women's 6K race at The Abbey Golf Course with a time of 22:45.32, and finished one minute and 23 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, Tampa's Claudia Cancello, who clocked a time of 24:08.61.

Rampf was one of four Lion runners to finish among the top 20. Sophomore Alyssa Bayliff was third with a time of 24:20.53, followed by sophomore Laura Tobin in sixth place after crossing the line in 24:51.06. Junior Lauren Csubak was also among the top 20, finishing 18th with a time of 26:17.50.

Sophomore Noemi Anaya was Saint Leo's fifth scoring runner in 26th place, finishing with a time of 26:51.06.

Junior Haley Roussell (27th, 26:54.01) and senior Natalie McCormick (31st overall/30th in points, 27:05.64) were pushers in the individual results for Saint Leo.

Tiffany Gargiulo (43rd, 28:02.97) and Fatima Abu-Rumman (54th, 28:42.04) were the remaining finishers for Saint Leo.
