WINTER PARK, Fla. - A sensational collegiate debut has propelled Saint Leo freshman Tereza Novotna to Sunshine State Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors, it was announced Tuesday by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.
Novotna set a new school record in her collegiate debut, Posting a time of 18:39 to place fourth of 149 runners at the UT Early Bird Invitational.
Novotna was not only the SSC's top finisher, but she also crossed the finish line ahead of six Division I runners. Saint Leo finished eighth in the team standings.
It's the first time in program history that a Saint Leo women's cross country runner has earned the SSC honor.
