Volleyball holds at No. 2 in the South Region rankings

SAINT LEO, Fla. – In the second NCAA regional rankings of the season, the Saint Leo volleyball team held on to their No. 2 spot in the South Region.

The Lions are second to Palm Beach Atlantic, who held their No. 1 spot. Tampa held their No. 3 spot. West Florida, out of the Gulf South Conference, moved up to No. 4, while SSC member Florida Southern fell in at No. 5. North Alabama was tabbed as No. 6, while Eckerd fell to No. 7, and Shorter wrapped up the top eight.

Saint Leo will head to Lynn, who fell in at No. 9, and Barry, No. 10, this weekend. The Lions will take on Lynn on Friday at 7 p.m., and the match at Barry will be on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The last time Saint Leo and Lynn matched up, the Lions took the match by a 3-1 score. The Lions saw impressive performances by freshman Victoria Omoregie and Britt Sederholm. Omoregie led the way with 15 kills on a clip of .393 for Saint Leo, a season high for the freshman out of Tampa. She also added four blocks to her stat line. Sederholm dropped a double-double as she put down 14 kills and added 12 digs. She also added three blocks on the day.

This will be the first time the Lions will face Barry as the match earlier this season was rescheduled to Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. due to Hurricane Matthew.
