Volleyball falls at the hand of #1 Concordia - St. Paul

DENVER, Colo. – The Saint Leo volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 1 Concordia – St. Paul, 25-18, 25-16, and 25-14, in the opening match of the Colorado Premier Challenge at Regis University on Friday afternoon.

The Lions, who are now 4-1, were unable to halt the top-ranked Golden Bears, 5-0, in Friday's match as the Golden Bears put down 47 kills on an impressive clip of .448. The Golden Bears were able to force the Lions into 22 attack errors while tallying 10 team blocks.

Saint Leo saw freshman Victoria Omoregie led the way with 10 kills, while senior Hope Lemon added nine kills, scoring points on her serve as well, adding three aces. Freshman setter Anna Garrett added 18 assists.

Concordia – St. Paul saw three individuals' record double-digit kills led by Mariya Sampson, who put away 11. Riley Hanson and Anna Schlaak each added 10, while Shelby Seurer tallied an error-less nine kills on 11 attempts for a clip of .818.

The Lions look to bounce back as they take on No. 8 Lewis at 5:30 p.m. ET in the second match on Friday in the Colorado Premier Challenge.
