WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo volleyball players Jordan Sisson and Tawni Warren have been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Offensive and Defensive Volleyball Players of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon from the conference office in Winter Park, Fla.
Senior middle blocker Jordan Sisson, who claimed the Offensive Player of the Week honor, hit over .500 in each of the Lions' final three matches of the regular season. The Broomfield, Colo. native averaged nearly three kills (2.89) per set with a hitting percentage of .579 to lead her squad to its best conference finish in four years with a 10-6 record. She hit .500 with seven kills against Eckerd, hit .667 with seven kills against Florida Tech and then hit .588 with 12 kills against Barry. Sisson recorded 26 kills and only four errors during the week, while also adding six blocks.
Alongside Sisson's effort, junior outside hitter Tawni Warren notched the Defensive Player of the Week accolade for her performance during the Lions' final regular season contests. A native of Thornton, Colo., she collected 20 digs and 10 blocks on the week, while holding opponents to just a .132 hitting percentage. Warren recorded 10 digs and six blocks, including three solo, in a 3-0 victory over Florida Tech. She helped hold the Panthers to a .009 hitting percentage in the match. Warren finished the week averaging 2.22 digs and 1.1 blocks per set, while also averaging 2.56 kills per set. She recorded four services aces during the week.
