MELBOURNE, Fla. – In a pivotal Sunshine State Conference matchup against the Florida Tech Panthers, the Saint Leo volleyball team walked away with a 3-0 victory, Friday night from the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center. The win improved the Lions record to 22-10 on the year.
After taking home a first set win over the Panthers, the Lions' offensive momentum continued throughout the match and gave them the energy they needed to bring home the win.
Holding the Panthers to just a .009 attack percentage, junior Yaidimar Santiago led the Lions defensively with 17 digs on the night. Senior setter Jaclyn Mailoto added 14 digs to the team total of 53, while junior outside hitter Tawni Warren contributed ten. Mailoto also earned 29 assists in the match.
Offensively, the Lions squad collected 34 kills on the evening, with Tawni Warren and Lauren Cambell each tallying eight. In addition, senior Jordan Sisson and junior Alexa Griffith-Hardy notched seven and six, respectively.
The Lions will return to action tomorrow when they head to Barry University for their final regular season matchup. The SSC contest is set to begin promptly at 4:00 p.m.
