SAINT LEO, Fla. – In their twelfth Sunshine State Conference contest of the season, the Saint Leo volleyball program defeated the visiting Nova Southeastern Sharks. The victory snapped a two game losing streak and improved the Lions' record to 20-9 on the season.
Capitalizing on a strong offensive momentum, the Lions squad took home three straight sets to sweep the Sharks.
Offensively, junior Tawni Warren blasted home ten kills to lead the Lions's squad. Junior Lauren Campbell followed up her performance with an eight-kill night, while seniors Meghan Donovan and Jordan Sisson tallied seven each.
In addition to her eight kills, Campbell led the Lions in digs, collecting ten in the win. Senior Jaclyn Mailoto and junior Yaidimar Santiago followed up her performance with eight and seven digs, respectively.
Mailoto, who ranks in the top-10 for Division II in assists per set, tallied 34 assists in the contest.
As a team, the Lions hit for a .233 attack percentage in the short match, tallying 38 kills in 90 total attacks.
The Saint Leo volleyball team will return to action tomorrow when they host the visiting Lynn Fighting Knights on Senior Day. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
