SAINT LEO, Fla. – Fresh off their first Sunshine State Conference loss, the Saint Leo volleyball team bounced back with a win over the visiting Webber Warriors, Sunday afternoon from the Bowman Center.
With a team attack percentage of .228, the Lions made short work of the Warriors, defeating them in the minimum three sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-14). After a close first and second set, the Lions came out after a short break and dominated the third set, sealing their weekend victory.
In typical Saint Leo fashion, junior libero Yaidimar Santiago led the Lions in digs, collecting 17 digs and amassing 5.67 digs per set. On the offensive side of the game, junior Alexa Griffith-Hardy collected a career-high 10 kills, while sophomore Jillian Stolzenburg and junior Lauren Campbell contributed with nine and eight kills, respectively. Setters Jaclyn Mailoto (21 assists) and Elizabeth Nizzoli (11 assists) both aided the Lions in scoring by tallying a combined 32 assists.
The Sunday afternoon win improves the Lions' record to 10-4 on the season. They will return to the court on Friday, Oct. 4 when they take on the visiting top-ranked University of Tampa Spartans. The match is set for 7:00 p.m.
