SAINT LEO, Fla. – All 15 Lions saw court time as the Saint Leo volleyball team posted a straight-sets sweep of visiting Elizabethtown College (Pa.) 25-16, 25-10, 25-10 on Thursday night from the Marion Bowman Activities Center. With the win Saint Leo pulls their overall record back even at 8-8 while Elizabethtown is now 4-14.
The Lions were led by an unlikely hero as sophomore Suzie Solenski came off the bench in set two to knock down nine kills and hit .800. In addition to the attack, her presence at the net was also evident in her three blocks. Freshman Lauren Campbell also finished with eight kills.
As a team, the Lions hit .312 while holding the visitors to a -.072 average. Defensively they posted nine team blocks and had 40 digs.
Katie Gantz led the visiting Blue Jays with five kills in the losing effort.
Saint Leo will return to Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday afternoon when the Lions travel to Lakeland to face Florida Southern College. The match is scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m. in the Jenkins Field House on the FSC campus.
