Women's tennis roars past Florida Tech, 8-1

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis team won its fifth straight match on Monday afternoon, as the Lions took down Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Tech, 8-1, at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.

Saint Leo jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match as the Lions swept doubles. Maja Pindelska and Katherine Zaatini took the No. 2 flight with a commanding 8-0 win, while the No. 1 and 3 flights were both won by the score of 8-5.

Senior Marine Beugre-Guyot dominated her singles match at Flight No. 1, taking down Erin Egoroff, 6-2, 6-2.

Pindelska added a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles, while No. 3's were taken by Kristyna Jurkova, 6-3, 7-5.

Fabiola Cardenas and Madeleine Gauthier made quick work of their matches as well. Cardenas claimed No. 4's by the score of 6-3, 6-2, while Gauthier added a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.

The Panthers' lone point came at No. 6's as Maria Chun took the point with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win.

Saint Leo returns to action on Wednesday, April 12 for a 3 p.m. match at Florida Southern.
