Women's tennis comes back to take down Tampa, 5-4

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis team came back from a 3-0 deficit to take down the University of Tampa, 5-4, in a team effort.

The Spartans swept the doubles matches, taking both No. 2 and 3 doubles by the score of 8-4, while taking No. 2 singles, 8-2.

In singles, Maja Pindelska took Flight No. 2 by the score of 6-1, 6-0, over Emily Hewland, while Kristyna Jurkova followed with a 6-2, 6-1 score over Lilley Nice at No. 3 singles.

Marine Beugre-Guyot topped Caroline Lozo, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, while Fabiola Cardenas too down Maddie Stephens, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles.

Madeleine Gauthier had a battle at No. 5, as she dropped the opening set, 7-6 (8-6), but bounced back to take sets two and three by the scores of 6-3, and 6-2.

Tampa scored their fourth point by claiming No. 6 singles.

Saint Leo returns to action on April 1 as they head to Palm Beach Atlantic for a 1 p.m. match.
