#4 Women's tennis falls to #15 Nova Southeastern

SAINT LEO, Fla.  – The No. 4 Saint Leo women's tennis team fell to the No. 15 Nova Southeastern Sharks, 7-1, in a Sunshine State Conference match.

The Lions started the match down 3-0 after doubles. The No. 3's pairing of Katherine Zaatini and Megan Charlton dropped the first point, falling 3-0.

Fabiola Cardenas and Madeleine Gauthier battled at No. 2, but eventually fell 8-2. At No. 1, Marine Beugre-Guyot paired with Maja Pindelska, ultimately falling, 8-4.

Eva Agasse of NSU took down Megan Charlton, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles to gain the fourth point for the Sharks.

The Sharks sealed the win with a No. 5 singles win as Arina Sharonova topped Saint Leo's Zaatini, 6-1, 6-0. They gained their sixth point on the No. 3 singles before Gauthier took the No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1, earning the Lions first point of the afternoon.

NSU also took the No. 2 singles point, while the No. 1 match was left unfinished due to rain.

Saint Leo returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 12 p.m. at No. 1 Armstrong State.
