SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis fell in at No. 2 in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Regional rankings of the 2016-17 season.
"The women's team had a great season last year," Head Coach Chad Berryhill remarked. "We want to take the next step this spring and having the No. 2 ranking in the South Region shows the hard work they have put in, but we will have to be even better this spring to continue to improve to accomplish our lofty goals."
The Lions finished 2015-16 as the No. 3 team in the national rankings, and were NCAA Semifinalists at the national tournament. They ended the season with a 23-3 record.
Beugre-Guyot also found herself ranked in doubles as well. She joins partner Madeleine Gauthier at No. 9 in the South Region.
"It's awesome for Marine to be ranked in the top-10 in both singles and doubles and to have Anastasia just outside of it at No.12 in singles. They are both seniors and will be important pieces to our success this spring. I am also excited for Madeleine to be ranked in doubles as she has made big strides in her game thus far this fall campaign."
The ITA National Rankings will be released on Nov. 21.
