FULL ITA DII WOMEN'S NATIONAL RANKINGS

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Earning the highest ranking in program history, the Saint Leo women's tennis team checks in at No. 6 on the latest ITA Division II Women's National Poll, it was announced Wednesday.  The Lions climb one position from their previous seventh-place position, and are one of four Sunshine State Conference schools in the current top-ten.

Coming at No. 1 is SSC institution Barry University, who defeated the Lions in the SSC Championships to take home its fifth consecutive SSC title.  Lynn University, who the Lions defeated in the SSC Semifinal round to advance to the championships, climbs one spot to sit at No. 4 on this week's poll.

The Lions sit one spot in front of Rollins, who climbs from eighth to seventh, rounding out the list of SSC schools in the latest top-ten.

Saint Leo punched their ticket to NCAA action for the third straight year, earning hosting duties after securing the No. 2 seed in the South Region behind top-seeded Barry.

This year's South Region setup features six teams, with matches being played at the first two seeds in each region.  Fifth-seeded Rollins will square off against fourth-seed West Florida at Barry, while the No. 3 seed and fifth-ranked Lynn takes on Stillman, who earned the sixth and final south region seed, at the Saint Leo Tennis Center on Monday.

The respective site's champions will each advance to the National Championship, which will take place May 14-17 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla., and will be hosted by the Sunshine State Conference.

The Lions made their first NCAA post-season appearance in 2008, and have been a consistent force in the South Region tournament each year since earning their second-ever bid in 2012.
