No. 12 Women’s Tennis Sweeps Past No. 19 Georgia College

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Starting out 2-0 before the first serve crossed a net, the 12th-ranked Saint Leo women's tennis team was facing a short-handed No. 19 Georgia College as the Lions made quick work of the Bobcats in a 9-0 victory on Saturday afternoon from Bacon Park.

With forfeits at no. 6 singles and no. 3 doubles, the Lions already had a 2-0 lead as Laura Kemkes, Coralie Pesenti, Maria Benkirane, Pauline Helgesson and Emily Singleton made quick work of their opponents in keeping the Lions unblemished.  In singles action, the Lions saw the closest margin of 6-3 in the sweep.

With the win, the Lions now look toward Sunday morning's matchup against the nation's top team in Armstrong.  The Lions and Pirates will get the match underway at 11:00 a.m. at Bacon Park in Savannah, Ga.
