Women’s Tennis Opens Action at USTA/ITA South Regional Championship

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis team registered five wins on the opening day of the USTA/ITA South Region Championships (Hosted by Florida Southern), Thursday afternoon from the Beerman Tennis Complex and Warden Complex.

Adrianna Daszkiewicz shined for the Lions over the first day of competition as she associated with three of the five, advancing to the round of 16 after earning two singles victories.

After downing Eckerd's Carson Trapp in the round of 64, 6-0, 6-2, she went on to oust Rollins' Ashley Rosenberg in round of 32, 6-3, 7-5. The win puts her in the round of 16 where she will see Florida Southern's Sabine Goge on Friday.

In flight A doubles, Daszkiewicz teamed with Emily Singleton, the Lions' other singles victor, to bounce the Nova Southeastern pair of Austin Lavallii and Carlee Rizzolo, 8-3.

The Lions also saw a doubles win saw Maria Benkirane and Coralie Pesenti turn back the Eckerd duo of Gipson Hawn and Amy Naula, 8-2.

The Lions will return to the court on Friday, September 28,  as they continue action at the USTA/ITA South Regional Championship hosted by Florida Southern.
