Players Past and Present Reconnect at Alumni Weekend
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach James Bryce, as well as many others around the Saint Leo Community, had the unique pleasure of hosting players past as well as honoring long time coach Tim Crosby during the 2011 Alumni Weekend event.
During the festivity-filled day, alums from as far back as the 1980's came back to Saint Leo to experience the ever developing campus, in addition to honoring Crosby.Current members of the tennis teams also had a chance to partake in the action as they each played competitive sets against each other for the enjoyment of all the alums in attendance.
The evening concluded with Crosby being awarded a 40-year contribution plaque, displaying Crosby's commitment to Saint Leo and tennis.
As Bryce, the current leaders of the Lions, continues to build a tradition of winning, the coach also looks to continue to reconnect with the past, "This was a great way to bring alumni back on campus and see how much Saint Leo has grown since they graduated. For many of them it was the first time in years being back. Coach Crosby has been an icon on campus for over 40 years now and we wanted to show our appreciation to him. It was a fantastic day and I hope to see many of the alumni back again someday."
Crosby, thankful for the warm reception, noted a 'Thank You' to the Saint Leo community, "I would like to thank all those involved, including Head Coach James Bryce, the men's and women's tennis team, Eddie Kenny (Director of Alumni Relations), and John Semeraro (Associate Athletic Director), for making the entire day a special event for me."
