SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Saint Leo women’s tennis program finished the fall season ranked 28th in the nation according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the governing body of collegiate tennis. The Lions also stand ninth in the South Region in the poll release earlier this week.
Nationally, the Lions find themselves in the top-30 for the first time since after the programs first-ever South Region appearance in 2007. Fellow Sunshine State Conference schools Lynn, Barry, Rollins, Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern and Florida Tech also find themselves in the national poll with Lynn claiming the runner-up position heading into the 2010 season.
Armstrong Atlantic State claims the top-spot in the preseason poll.
Regionally, the Lions are looking at Lynn at the top of the South Region with Valdosta State, West Florida, Barry and Rollins rounding out the top five.
New Head Coach James Bryce will look to earn the programs second regional appearance as their championship season begins in February.
