Saint Leo, Fla. (April 30, 2008) – Saint Leo University women’s tennis player Asmaa Tazi (Jr., Casablanca, Morocco) was named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team, it was announced Wednesday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.

Tazi had a 15-6 record in singles competition in 2008, playing in the number two position throughout the season.  Nine of Tazi’s 15 victories in singles play came in straight sets, as she helped the Lions post a 13-10 record, and a sixth-place finish in the Sunshine State Conference.

In addition to First and second Teams for Singles and Doubles, the SSC also recognized three major award winners, as Florida Southern’s Senka Softic was named SSC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, Barry’s Caroline Stevens was selected Freshman of the Year and Lynn University’s Mike Perez was chosen Coach of the Year.

Voting for the All-Conference Women’s Tennis Team was conducted among the league’s head women’s tennis coaches and sports information directors.
