Saint Leo, Fla. (February 16, 2008) – The Saint Leo women’s tennis team (0-2, 0-1) fell at the hands of the Barry University Buccaneers by the score of 8-1 Saturday afternoon at the SLU Tennis Center.

The Lions one win on the afternoon came from the Lions’ top doubles duo of Lina Benkirane (So., Casablanca, Morocco) and Asmaa Tazi (Casablanca, Morocco). The pair defeated the Barry Tandom of Caroline Stevens and Berit Peterson by the score of 8-3.

In singles action, Shaena Keefe (So., Spring Hill, Fla.) and Taylor Cleaves (So., Norwell, Mass.) were each one set away from victory but didn’t close the door on the Buccaneers. Keefe dropped the first set 2-6 but came back win the second set 7-5. With the match tied at one, the Buccaneers number three singles player Peterson outscored Keefe 10-4 to win the super tiebreaker. Cleaves dropped her first set against her opponent 6-2, but came back to win the second set 6-3. In the deciding super tiebreaker, Cleaves fell 10-4.
