Winter Park, Fla. (February 19, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women's tennis team (0-3) dropped an 8-1 decision at No. 10 Rollins College (2-0) on Tuesday afternoon in Winter Park, Fla.

The Tars swept the doubles portion of the day as No. 1 Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra rolled past Lina Benkirane (So., Casablanco, Morocco) and Asmaa Tazi (Jr., Casablanco, Morocco) 8-2. Margaret Junker and Sonia Bernal had an easy time against Shaena Keefe (So., Spring Hill, Fla.) and Gina Schifano (So., Tampa, Fla.) 8-1 in second seed action. Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Taylor Cleaves (So., Norwell, Mass.) and Veronica Queen (Fr., Valrico, Fla.) at the No. 3 position.

Tazi picked up the Lions' lone point of the afternoon, as she sent Rollins' Bernal to her first singles loss of the season in the number two match.  Tazi won the three-setter 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3). No. 27 Mahler defeated Benkirane 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles spot.  Keefe fell to Shevchenko 6-2, 6-1 in the third slot, while Luthra dispatched of Queen 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4. Junker won her match at the No. 5 in straight sets over Schifano 6-1, 6-0 and Frandji rounded out the winning for the Tars with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Cleaves 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 6.

Saint Leo will be back in action this Saturday at Floirda Tech (12:30 p.m.).
