Trio earns All-SSC Women's Swimming honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swimming team saw three student-athletes honored by the Sunshine State Conference as junior Natalia Garriock, freshman Annie Lindstrom, and senior Nicole Weber all earned a place on the SSC All-Conference teams as voted on by league coaches.

Garriock, a native of Duncan, British Columbia, earned her spot on the All-SSC Women' Swimming First Team for the third-straight year. At the SSC Championship Meet, Garriock claimed two first place finishes, taking home the 100 Free and the 100 Butterfly, while earning a second place finish in the 100 Bac, and in the 400 Free Relay. She also added a third place finish in the 50 Free and the 200 Medley Relay.

Lindstrom, a Kristianstad, Sweden, native, earned a spot on the All-SSC Second Team and was the only freshman to claim a place on any of the All-SSC Teams. She joined Garriock in both the 400 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay, where the Lions placed second and third, respectively. She added a third-place finish in the 100 Butterfly and added two fourth-place finishes in the both the 100 and 50 Free races.

Weber, a native of Konz, Germany, was named to the All-SSC Honorable Mention team. This marked the third time the senior was honored by the SSC as she earned First Team honors following the 2013-14 season and Second Team honors following the 2014-15 season. At the 2016-17 SSC Championships, Weber joined Lindstrom and Garriock on the third place 200 medley relay team and added a fourth-place finish in the 200 Breaststroke.

All three were invited to the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championship. Garriock received invitations for the 50 Freestyle, the 100 Freestyle, and the 100 Butterfly, while Lindstrom received invitations for the 50 Freestyle, the 100 Freestyle, and the 100 Butterfly. Weber received an invitation for the 200 Breaststroke.

The Lions head to the 2017 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships that will take place on Tuesday, March 7, through Saturday, March 11, in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham Crossplex/Natatorium.
