Top three finishes highlight day three at SSC Swim meet

ORLANDO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's and women's swimming combined for three podium spots on Saturday's third day of competition at the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships at the Orlando YMCA Aquatic Center.
For the third day in a row, junior Natalia Garriock had the top Saint Leo showing the day with her second-place finish in the women's 100 Backstroke. Garriock touched the wall with an NCAA "B" standard time of 56.73 seconds.
In the men's 100 Backstroke, junior Milosz Mikicin earned a podium spot with his third-place finish after touching the wall in 48.80 seconds.
Freshman Henrik Dahrendorff also made an appearance on the podium's third-place step, with his showing in the men's 100 Breaststroke. Dahrendorff posted a time of 54.83, reaching the NCAA "B" qualifying mark in the process.
Senior Nicole Weber placed eighth in the women's 100 Breaststroke final, clocking a time of 1:04.84. Competing in the women's 100 Breaststroke consolation race were junior Jaclyn Taylor and sophomore Sidney Martin, who recorded times of 1:08.33 and 1:08.82 respectively and were 13th and 14th in the final event results.
In Saturday's consolation finals, freshman Charlie Langner and junior Carylyn Waite finished 15th and 16th respectively in the women's 500 Freestyle, with times of 5:15.92 and 5:22.41.
Sophomore Kane Klimczak posted a 15th-place finish in the men's 100 Backstroke, with a time of 52.73 in Saturday night's consolation race.
Freshman Siobhan Murphy finished 14th overall while senior Allyssa Black was 16th overall in the women's 200 Butterfly, after recording times of 2:11.60 and 2:12.35 in the consolation race.
After Saturday's third day of competition at the SSC Swimming Championships, the Saint Leo women's swim team is fourth out of seven teams with 337 points. The men's team is fifth out of sixth teams with 218.50 points.
Competition concludes on Sunday with the 1650 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 200 Breaststroke, and the 400 Free Relay.
