Women’s swimming charts three “B” cuts at Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Saint Leo women's swimmers captured first place in seven out of 14 events and posted three NCAA "B" standards in Friday's double-dual meet against Florida Tech and Lynn University at the Panther Aquatic Center.

Those seven wins helped propel the Lions to victories over both Florida Tech, 145.00-117.00, and Lynn, 150.00-112.00, to improve Saint Leo women's swimming's record to 5-0 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Freshman Annie Lindstrom posted the first of Saint Leo's three NCAA "B" standard times of the day with a 24:05 first-place time in the 50 Freestyle.

Senior Nicole Weber charted a "B" standard time in the 200 Breaststroke with a winning time of 2:16.49. She also posted a first-place time in the 200 Individual Medley (2:08.67), and was second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.43).

Junior Natalia Garriock won the 100 Butterfly with a "B" standard mark of 55.66, to go with a second-place time in the 200 Freestyle (1:53.37).

Sophomore Maftuna Tuhtasinova logged two first-place finishes in the 100 Backstroke (58.72) and the 200 Backstroke (2:06.42).

In the relays, Saint Leo was victorious in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:33.97. Garriock, Olga Britton, Mattie Shaver, and Lindstrom formed the Saint Leo team that posted the winning time in the event.

Saint Leo women's swimming will have a quick turnaround before its only home meet of the 2016-17 season on Saturday, Jan. 21, when it hosts Rollins College and Division III Trinity University (Texas) in a double-dual meet.
