GENEVA, Ohio – The Saint Leo swim team concluded the final day of the 2014 Division II Swimming Championships with continued success, drawing out their 2013-14 campaign until the very last event at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Matheus Assis opened the day placing 20th in the 100 Yard Freestyle preliminary round, touching with a time of 44.97. Gabe Keown finished 30th, completing the event in 45.35.
Stephanie Martinez had a solid showing in the preliminary heat of the women's 1650 Free, finishing in 17:16.87 for 14th overall.
Nicole Weber found her groove once again, finishing fourth in the women's 200 Yard Breaststroke preliminary round, touching in 2:15.25 to earn her place in the Championship finals later in the day. Weber closed out her NCAA appearance with a 2:14.73 finish in the Championship Finals, finishing fifth overall.
The men's relay team of Assis, Keown, Patrick Ceddia, and Milton Alberto-Requejo took home a preliminary time of 2:58.70 in the 400 Free Relay to advance to the championship heat. In the final event of the 2014 DII Championships, the Lions relay team took home a time of 3:00.73, earning seventh overall to close out their season on a high note.
With the conclusion of the 2014 DII Swimming National Championships, the Lions close out their 2013-14 campaign marking one of the most successful season in program history.
