Women’s Swimming Suffers Setback No. 1 Florida Southern

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swim team posted some impressive finishes, but the Lions were unable to pick up other key victories as they fell to visiting No. 1 Florida Southern 159-94 in Sunshine State Conference action at the Bowman Aquatics Center on Friday afternoon.

A tough start greeted the Lions as the 28-event meet got underway.  Florida Southern, ranked atop the statistical categories to begin the season, snagged close victories in the first six events to open up a cushion over Saint Leo.

The Lions would respond with consecutive victories by Bianca Muniz, but it would not be enough as FSC managed the victory.

Muniz snapped the Moccasin streak by picking up a win in the 50 Free behind a time of 25.49 and followed that with a 54.95 first-place finish in the 100 Free.

Chantal Bouthillier and Chloe Pellican also managed some quality swims for the Lions, finishing 1-2 in the 100 Medley to add some points to the Saint Leo side of the scoreboard.

Without much rest, the Lions will hit the road for their next meet as they travel to Rollins on Saturday.  Saint Leo will face the Tars in a Sunshine State Conference meet starting at 1:00 p.m. in Winter Park.
