SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Saint Leo women's swimming team continued to make great strides in the pool as they closed-out action at the eighth-annual SCAD Invite, Saturday afternoon from the Chatham County Aquatic Center.
"I like how our ladies are consistently improving," said head coach Paul Mangen. Consistency is important in this sport. It's a reflection of their daily efforts and commitment to excellence. We know we have a lot of work to do, but we plan to coach them hard every day to make sure they are prepared for success. We will now shift our efforts towards their final exams and their academic endeavors and will spend the winter break preparing for the conference championship season."
Saint Leo started the evening in impressive fashion as the 200 Yard Medley group, led-off by Erin Bobsein with a time of 1:51.89 and an eighth-place finish.
Bianca Muniz concluded the 100 Free in 12th-place with a finishing time of 55.28. Highlighting the Lions individual performances was a fourth-place showing in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:11.50.
Sondra Stopczynska also impressed on the third and final day as she finished fifth in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, clocking in with a time 1:07.25.
The Lions wrapped-up competition by defeating 11 other teams in the 400 Free Relay. The group, led by Bobsein again, touched with a finishing time of 3:43.37.
The Lions will return to the pool again on Monday, December 31, as they close-out the 2012 portion of their schedule with a neutral site dual meet with Pfeiffer University. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m. from Ft. Myers. Fla.
