Women's Swimming Drops Home Meet to No. 6 Tampa, 177-85
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo freshman Erin Bobsein led the Saint Leo women's swim team, posting two top finishes on the morning, but the Lions found themselves on the bottom portion of a 177-85 final score against the sixth-ranked University of Tampa Spartans.
Bobsein's first victory was in the 100-yard Backstroke, touching with a time of 1:01.52. The Jupiter, Fla. native went on to collect her second top finish in the 200-yard Backstroke, completing the event with a mark of 2:12.12, two seconds ahead of her closest competition.
Carvajal and Stopczynska finished one-two in the 100-yard Breaststroke event, with Carvajal hitting the wall with a mark of 1:09.57, and her teammate coming in a shade under a second later with a mark of 1:10.36.
The duo went on to finish second and third in the 200-yard Breaststroke a short while later, with Stopczynska collecting a second-place time of 2:31.20, and Carvajal touching with 2:32.74 on the board.
Freshman Chantal Bouthillier had a successful morning, as well. The Plantation, Fla. native earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard Butterfly event, completing with a time of 2:12.37, before finishing the 200-yard Individual Medley with a top time of 2:11.88.
Saint Leo will return to the pool on Saturday, November 29, whey travel to Savannah, Ga. to compete at the SCAD Invitational. The three day meet is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 a.m. from the Chatham County Aquatic Center.
