#7 Women’s soccer falls in the second round of NCAA Tournament

SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 7 Saint Leo women's soccer fell 2-1 to No. 16 West Florida on Sunday, Nov. 13 at University Soccer Field in the second round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament. The Lions end their season with a 13-4-1 record and both Sunshine State Conference trophies.

"It was an unbelievable season and a record-breaking one at that," Head Coach Ged O'Connor mentioned. "Playing UWF is always tough and I believe the girls played their hearts out, to go down 2-0 in the first half and be able to battle back to cut it to 2-1 is difficult and I think they did the best they could to get back into the game."

Genevieve Gignac scored her seventh and final goal in the Green and Gold as the senior found the back of the net in the second half for the Lions.

Natalie Melillo and Katie Waddell each picked up an assist on the Gignac goal. Megan Charlton played the full 90 minutes and took the loss moving to 8-3-1 on the year.
