#10 Saint Leo women’s soccer set to host SSC tournament

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 10 ranked Saint Leo women's soccer team is set to host the Sunshine State Conference semifinals and championship game of the SSC Tournament this weekend, Nov. 4 and Nov. 6. The first-seeded Lions will take on the fourth-seeded Tars of Rollins College, ranked 25th in the nation, at 4:30 p.m., followed by the 2-vs-5 matchup in second-seeded Nova Southeastern Sharks, ranked 20th in the nation, against third-seeded Barry University Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m.

The Lions enter the match Friday after taking home the SSC Regular Season title on Sunday, Oct. 30 with a 4-0 win over Palm Beach Atlantic. Saint Leo finished atop the SSC standings with 22 total points and a 7-1-1 mark in the conference. The Green and Gold enter the SSC tournament on a three-game win streak with wins over Florida Southern (10/22 3-2), previous-No. 9 Nova Southeastern (10/25 2-0) and the most recent over PBA (10/30 4-0).

Behind Kabangu on the offensive front, Natalie Melillo has 19 points in her first season in the Green and Gold where she has scored five goals and dished out nine assists. Katie Waddell is third on the team in points and tied for second in goals scored.
