Women's soccer sits No. 3 in South Region

SAINT LEO, Fla. – With an 8-3 record both overall and in the region, Saint Leo women's soccer team is ranked third in the South Region on NCAA.com, released Wednesday, Oct. 19. The Lions sit sixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America regional rankings, announced Tuesday, Oct. 18.

The Lions fall behind Rollins, who sits at 8-1-2 on the year, and Nova Southeastern, who is 6-1-2 on the year. The Tars lead the Sunshine State Conference with a 4-0-2 record while the Sharks hold the second place spot in the SSC with a 4-0-1 record. Saint Leo falls in third with a 4-1 SSC record. The top five spots in the regional rankings are held by SSC teams. 

"It's nice to see the first poll come out and have us sitting in third, but it's early and there are still a lot of game to be played." head coach Ged O'Connor stated about the first regional rankings released by the NCAA. 

Saint Leo enters Wednesday's home contest against SSC rival Tampa on a one game skid, after having dropped their last road contest at Embry-Riddle, 2-1 on Oct. 15. The Lions saw Arielle Kabangu score her 12th goal of the year in the setback.
