Pia Soesemann connected a cross from the right wing to Alcantara, who found the sweet spot and headed the ball past West Georgia keeper Mary Laza into the bottom left corner. Barbaresi and Alcantara notched one goal apiece, while Sherrie Gessin earned the first assist of her collegiate career.
Kelcee Mai and Jessica Griffith split time between the posts. Mai was unable to set aside any shots on frame, while Griffith earned one save on the afternoon. On the opposite end of the pitch, Laza compiled six saves while yielding four shots on target.
The Lions found themselves down early due to a UWG goal in the fourth minute from Cydney Raymond off of a Jessica Young assist. The Wolves entered into the second half with a vengeance, earning two goals to knot the score at 3-3 by the 62nd minute. Soesemann and Alcantara lifted the Lions to a one-goal advantage with just under 17 minutes to play, and the Green and Gold sealed the deal thanks to a stalwart defense and continuous pressure from their midfield and forward squads.
The Lions led the shot count, stifling their opponent 21-6, and had more opportunities from the corner with a 9-5 count over the Wolves. UWG committed 11 fouls to Saint Leo's eight.
