SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s soccer team was honored with the 2008-09 version of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, it was announced Friday. The award marks the second consecutive year that the Ged O’ Connor led bunch has earned the honor.

Saint Leo posted the team award based on their excellence in the classroom during the 2008-09 academic year in which they accumulated a 3.20 grade-point-average. The 2008-09 team sustained their play both in the classroom and the field, as they secured their fist Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championship in team history and a 15-5-2 overall record. 

To be considered for the award, the team must post a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Last season, a total of 572 soccer teams (141 men, 331 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
