SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women’s soccer team, who concluded the 2009 regular season with two key Sunshine State Conference victories, have earned the No.4 seed in the upcoming SSC Tournament beginning on Tuesday, November 3rd.

The Lions solidified their spot in the tournament with a 3-1 decision over conference foe Nova Southeastern last week in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Now, the Green & Gold have the opportunity to make it 2-0 against the Sharks this season, as they will host NSU in a first round tournament game from the friendly confines of University Field on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7:00 p.m.

Saint Leo, who began its Tournament Championship run at home last season, will host a quarterfinals game for the second consecutive year. Last season, the team began its remarkable run by defeating Lynn 2-1 in overtime before upsetting top-seeded Rollins and then Florida Southern in the championship round. SLU enters the 2009 version of the tournament winners of two straight, as they look to defend their SSC Tournament crown. 

The winner of the match between Saint Leo and Nova Southeastern will trek to Winter Park, Fla. to take on No. 1 Rollins in Friday's semifinal.

The top six teams, based on points accumulated in SSC play, advance to the championship, with the top two seeds receiving byes for the quarterfinal round.

Rollins (13-1-2), which clinched its second straight league title, will serve as host of the semifinals and final on Friday, November 6 and Sunday, November 8. Quarterfinal matches will be played on Tuesday, November 3 on the campus of the higher seeds.

No. 3 Florida Southern (10-6-1) will host No. 6 Lynn (9-8) in one of Tuesday's quarterfinal tilts. The Moccasins compiled a 6-2 mark in league play, while the Fighting Knights tallied a 3-5 slate.

No. 2 Florida Tech (14-2) will await the winner of the contest between No. 3 Florida Southern and No. 6 Lynn in the other semifinal match-up.
