Saint Leo, Fla. - The Saint Leo University women’s soccer team (15-4-2), has been selected by the NCAA to compete in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The Lions will play the University of Tampa in the first round on Friday, November 14 with kickoff slated for 3:30 pm (EST).
SLU will embark to Pensacola, Fla. for the top half of the bracket, where they will be joined by the Tampa Spartans and host institution the University of West Florida. West Florida, the top seed in the region, earned a first round bye and will await the winner of the SLU/Tampa match-up.
Saint Leo dropped their only other meeting with the Spartans this season 3-0 at University Field.
The Rollins College Tars, whom the Lions defeated in the semifinal round of the SSC Tournament, will host the bottom half of the South Region bracket. The
Florida Tech Panthers and Florida Southern Moccasins will compete to decide who will get to play the Tars in the one game elimination tournament.
A grand total of six teams are selected from eight different regions, with the two top seeds receiving byes in the first round and hosting second round action.
