SAINT LEO, Fla. - Saint Leo Lions women’s soccer player Hannah Beard (Liverpool, England) was named offensive Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week it was announced Monday by SSC Commisioner Michael J. Marcil.

The senior exploded in three Lions victories this week, as she accumulated a total of 14 points including four goals and five assists. In the opening week game against Webber International, Beard struck with the first goal helping send the Lions to a 3-1 victory.

Two days later against Georgia Southwestern State University, Beard and the Lions erupted for a team-record thirteen goals. Beard amassed nine points in the throttling over the Hurricanes, including two goals and five assists. Beard finished off the week with a Golden Goal against Montevallo, blasting a shot into the back of the net in the 107th minute to preserve the Lions 3-0 record for the week.

Beard is the second Lions’ student-athlete to receive SSC Player of the Week honors. Volleyball middle blocker Kaitlin McKenna was the first Lion named player of the week of the Fall season. Beard and the Lions travel to Orlando, Fla. to take on the Robert Morris University September 18  with kickoff slated for 6:00 p.m.
