Saint Leo, Fla. (September 4, 2007) – Saint Leo University sophomore defender Kristen Preseault (Bradenton, Fla.) was named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday.  The honor came on the same day that the Lions earned their highest-ever national ranking, as they moved to No. 13 in the NSCAA/adidas National Poll.

Preseault anchored a Lion defense that held then-No. 15 West Florida to just six shots, including three on goal, in SLU's 2-1 victory. Playing all 90 minutes of the contest, Preseault helped lift No. 13 Saint Leo (2-1) to the program's first-ever win over the Argonauts in sweltering conditions.

Preseault becomes the first women’s soccer player to earn Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week accolades in 2007.  The sophomore is the third Saint Leo student-athlete to win conference player of the week honors in the 2007-08 school year.

Saint Leo returns to action on Friday, September 7 when the Lions host another south region foe in the University of Montevallo.  Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
