Montevallo, Ala. (September 10, 2006) – The Saint Leo University women’s soccer team (5-0-1) remained unbeaten with a 1-0 victory over the University of North Alabama (3-1-1) in a non-conference match played at the University of Montevallo on Sunday.

Saint Leo sophomore midfielder Evelina Viiri (Heby, Sweden) scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute to seal a perfect weekend in Montevallo following Friday night’s 1-0 overtime win over UM.

The Lions posted their fifth shutout in six matches played this season, as they stretched their winning streak to three games.  SLU’s defense has allowed only one goal in over 577 minutes played in the 2006 campaign.

North Alabama lost for the first time in 2006 and was held without a shot on target through the course of the entire 90 minutes.

Saint Leo will return home to face Eckerd College in a Sunshine State Conference match on Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m.  The Lions opened their season with a 2-0 win over the Tritons in a non-conference encounter.
