Pensacola, Fla. (September 3, 2006) – The Saint Leo University women’s soccer team (2-0-1) posted its third straight shutout and earned a 0-0 double overtime draw against the No. 6 ranked University of West Florida Argonauts (0-1-2) on Sunday afternoon in Pensacola, Fla.

Saint Leo sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Hudson (Odessa, Fla.) relied on strong defense to keep the Argonauts at bay and record her third consecutive clean sheet to begin the 2006 season.  The Lions defense limited UWF to just four shots on target, and has not allowed a goal in 290 minutes played this year.

Meanwhile, Argos’ goalkeeper Courtney Jones made seven saves to deny SLU a chance at a third straight victory.  SLU senior forward Casie Poyssick (Land O’Lakes, Fla.) had the best chances to break the deadlock, as she recorded three shots on target but could not find a way past Jones.

The Lions will open their Sunshine State Conference schedule on Wednesday, as they will travel to Lakeland, Fla. to face Florida Southern College.  Opening kickoff for the match is slated for at Barnett Field.
