Women’s Lacrosse Adds Defensive Unit to Inaugural Class

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Finalizing the list of new recruits for the inaugural year of women's lacrosse at Saint Leo University, head coach Lesley Graham has announced that Brittany Millsap and Cathryn Winslow will help anchor her defense.  The addition of Millsap and Winslow puts the finishing touches on the first-ever class of women's lacrosse recruits.

Brittany Millsap
5-8 | Goalie
St. Louis, Mo.
Saint Joseph's Academy | St. Louis Speed

Millsap will be the first Lion to be saddled with net-guarding duties in the program.  Coming from St. Louis and spending two years as the starting goalie for her high school team, she became a staple for her teams after earning the Most Improved Award in 2010.  Tabbed as a 'Player to Watch' list for women's lacrosse in the 2011 preseason, she was in the top-10 in saves, save percentage and minutes played, while placing top-15 in wins.

Strong in academics as well, she earned honor roll accolades both her junior and senior years.

Coach Graham's Thoughts – "Brittany brings strong athleticism to our goalie spot this year.  She will be instrumental in anchoring our defense with her vocal leadership from inside the pipes."

Cathryn Winslow
5-7 | Defense
Norfolk, Ma.
King Philip High School | NESLL

Winslow was a member of the Nike Cup All Star team and was also a Hockomock League All Star during the 2010-11 season.  A dual-sport athlete (lacrosse, field hockey) she was a four-year player and captain for King Philip.  She also earned Sun Chronicle Honorable Mention honors in both sports as well.

Coach Graham's Thoughts – "Cathryn is the total package when looking for an athlete.  Her tenacity, strong stick skills and desire to compete make here a very tough defender.  I am looking for her to make an immediate impact against some of our opponents' best attackers."

The duo, in addition to the groups announced in June and July, will begin their Saint Leo careers when classes begin in late August.
