Erika Brennan, a former Certified Instructor for the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, was named the third women's golf coach in program history on October 7, 2008.

In 2010-11, Brennan’s third season at Saint Leo, picked up right where her previous season left off.  It was a season that culminated with a Golfstat Ranking of ninth in the Nation and a second straight appearance at the NCAA Tournament where the Lions finished sixth at the Regional event.  The team also posted two Tournament victories and two additional tournament runner-up finishes.  The Lions sat atop the leaderboard that spring at the NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate, where Freshman Heather Petronis earned Medalist honors and again a week later at the Pinehurst Challenge where senior Jordan Hatch was Individual Medalist.

Hatch went on to earn All Sunshine State Conference Second Team Honors, while teammate Petronis earned Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year accolades.

The Lions posted two runner-up finishes in the fall at the Saint Leo Invitational and at the Flagler Fall Slam where Petronis was Individual Medalist.

Building on the success of her rookie season as head coach, 2009-10 saw Brennan thrust the Lions into the national spotlight as she guided her team into their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in Spring 2010. Finishing the season 10th in Golfstat rankings and 15th in the NGCA rankings, Brennan saw the Lions complete the most successful season in history, with a 5th place finish in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament and a bid to the NCAA South Region Tournament.  Competing in the field of nine teams in North Carolina, the Lions finished sixth in the tournament field.

The Lions started their championship momentum during the fall portion of their schedule as they won the Flagler Fall Slam while competing with only four student-athletes.  Then senior, Anna Riss, was medalist at the event and would go on to earn NGCA All-American Honorable Mention honors.

Using her scouting talent in 2009-10, Brennan added Jordan Hatch and Suzanne Ervin and, when matched with record-setting senior Riss, proved to be a skilled trio that vaulted the Lions into the national spotlight.

A first year (2008-09) that saw Brennan thrust right into action as her new team opened up their fall season the weekend following her appointment, the Lake Wales, Fla. native began to slowly change the program to fit her style.  The extra practice and a new team outlook proved true in her first championship season as she coached the program to it's first-ever tournament victory at the Ann Rhoads Southern Shootout on February 23, 2008.  They won again a week later at the St. Andrews Spring Invitational marking two wins in Brennan's first time as a coach.

The magic for the 2008-09 season carried over to a record sixth-place finish at the Sunshine State Conference Championships and the first SSC Player of Week honor in program history (Goeun Lee, 3/2/09).

Although she was new to the collegiate coaching ranks upon her arrival to Saint Leo, Brennan’s resume is thick with experience on the course.  Prior to her time at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, she served as an Operations Intern for the American Junior Golf Association where she organized golf tournaments and served as a rules official during competition.  Brennan also held the unique honor of being the only female certified instructor in North America during her time at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy.

A 2006 graduate of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, Brennan played on the Catamount women’s golf team where she finished her career ranked in the top-20 in the Southern Conference and sits ninth all-time at WCU in scoring average.

Another focal point for Brennan is in the classroom where she is no stranger to success with academics.  During her time at Western Carolina, the former Erika Danford graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.79 grade point average and made the Dean’s List every semester.  The vice president of the Western Carolina Student-Athlete Advisory Council and member of the Southern Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Council was also named to the WCU Honors College and was the Catamount’s Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2005.

Despite the additional responsibilities that come with taking the Saint Leo coaching position, she also continued to pursue her academic efforts as she earned her Master’s of Science Degree in Management from Warner University in August of 2009.  In addition to her duties as Head Women’s Golf Coach, Brennan also serves as the Advisor for the Saint Leo University Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

Married in April 2009, Brennan currently resides in Land O'Lakes with her husband Brian, who is an Enrollment Counselor with Saint Leo University at Downtown Tampa location.
