Coors claims SSC Women’s Golfer of the Week honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo senior Marie Coors was named the Sunshine State Conference Women's Golfer of the Week on Monday, following her first-place finish at the previous week's Florida Tech Lady Panther Invitational.

Coors took medalist honors at the Lady Panther Invitational after firing a 66 in the third round for a 54-hole score of 209 (-7). She posted a seven-stroke victory over Nova Southeastern's Jamie Freedman and Seminole State's Tuan-Yu Chiang, who were tied for second with an even-par 216.

The win was Coors' second first-place finish this spring and was her fifth-straight top five finish, and the 66 in Tuesday's third round matched Coors' own record for top individual round in program history. Coors' average of 69.67 over the three rounds helped bring her season average down to 71.55, and keeps her atop the Golfstat statistic rankings as the top women's golfer in Division II.

This was Coors' third SSC Women's Golfer of the Week award of her career, all of which she received this season.

Saint Leo women's golf returns to the links on Sunday, April 23, when they begin three days of competition in the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Women's Golf Championship in Lakeland, Fla.
