Coors in second after two rounds at Fla. Tech Invite

VIERA, Fla. – Saint Leo senior Marie Coors was in command of the leaderboard for much of the day before returning to the clubhouse in second place through 36 holes at the Florida Tech Lady Panther Invitational, which began play on Monday at the Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla.

Coors shot a 69 in Monday's first round and a 74 on her second trip around the par 72, 6,059 yard Duran course for a one-under 143. Coors recorded six birdies in her first round, but settled for one birdie against three bogeys in round two.

Tuan-Yu Chiang from Seminole State College, who spent most of the day chasing Coors on the individual leaderboard, birdied two of her final three holes in the second round to finish the day with a two-under 142.

Junior Amanda Jakobsson carded rounds of 74 and 77 for a seven-over 151, and was tied with Florida Tech's Guro Rambjoer for 10th place.

Juniors Vilde Eriksen and Margine Arguello completed the 36 holes tied for 16th overall at 156 (+12). Eriksen fired a 79 over her first 18 holes and a 77 in round two, while Arguello carded a 77 in the first round and posted a 79 in her second loop of the course.

Freshman Izzy Lawrence shot an 83 and an 81 for a 164 (+20) and was tied for 23rd on the leaderboard. Alex Velez, playing as an individual, fired rounds of 86 and 83 and carded a 169 (+25) in Monday's rounds.

Saint Leo finished the day in fourth place among eight teams in the tournament with a 606 (+30), after posting rounds of 299 and 307. Nova Southeastern holds the top spot on the team leaderboard with a 595 (+19), followed by Seminole State at 598 (+22) and the host squad from Florida Tech with a 604 (+28).

The Lions return to Duran Golf Club on Tuesday for the third round of the Lady Panther Invitational. Lawrence will lead the Saint Leo contingent with an 8:54 a.m. tee time, culminating in Coors teeing off at 9:30 a.m. Velez will start her final round at 9:39 a.m.
