Women’s golf finishes third at World Golf Invitational

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Saint Leo women's golf climbed one spot to finish third overall in the final standings of the Flagler College World Golf Invitational, which concluded Monday at the World Golf Village Slammer & Squire Course.

The Lions carded a 299 (+11) in Monday's second and final round to finish the 36-hole tournament with a 596 (+20). Saint Leo finished 14 strokes behind tournament Barry University; the Bucs turned in rounds of 289 and 293 for a two-day total of 582 (+6). Florida Tech was third with a 589 (+13).

Senior Marie Coors finished fourth on the individual leaderboard, after shooting an even-par 72 on Monday to match her Sunday score. Her 144 (E) for the tournament trailed tournament medalist Tilda Larsson (141, -3) from Barry by three strokes.

Junior Margine Arguello shot a 74 in the second round, a four-stroke improvement over her 78 on Sunday. She finished with an eight-over 152 for the tournament, and was tied for 19th overall.

Freshman Izzy Lawrence shot one stroke better than her Sunday score and carded a 76 in Monday's second round. Her nine-over 153 was tied for 22nd overall, along with junior Amanda Jakobsson. Jakobsson shot an 82 on Monday after firing a 71 in the opening round.

Senior Sabrina Rumbaugh repeated her Sunday score with a 77 again on Monday, and was tied for 29th overall with a 10-over 154.

Saint Leo returns to action on Monday, Feb. 20, when it makes the short trip to Lakeland, Fla., to play in the Florida Southern College Invitational at Grasslands Golf & Country Club.
