Eriksen named SSC Women’s Golfer of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's golfer Vilde Eriksen was named the Sunshine State Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week ending October 23, after capturing medalist honors last Tuesday at the 2016 Saint Leo Women's Golf Invitational.

Eriksen fired a six-under 66 in Tuesday's second round and carded a six-under 138 over the 36-hole tournament, to finish in a tie with Florida Tech's Brittany LaPadula atop the individual leaderboard. She then defeated LaPadula in a one-hole playoff to complete her first collegiate tournament victory.

Eriksen's 66 matched a Saint Leo record for lowest single round score.

Saint Leo won its home tournament for the first time in program history, carding a 571 (-5) on the par 72, 6133-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club North Course. The Lions won by 15 strokes over second-place Lynn University.

Saint Leo women's golf is currently competing in the fourth and final event of its fall slate, the Island Getaway hosted by the University of Illinois-Springfield at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
