Rumbaugh paces women’s golf on day three at NCAAs

AURORA, Colo. – Saint Leo junior Sabrina Rumbaugh fired a one-over 73 to lead the Lions in Friday's third round at the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, at the CommonGround Golf Course.

Rumbaugh carded three birdies on the par 72, 6,468-yard CommonGround course, two of those on par-5 holes. She climbed into a tie for 30th overall with a three-day score of 226 (+10).

Sophomore Vilde Eriksen remained the top Saint Leo golfer in the championship, in a four-way tie for ninth-place overall with a 219 (+2). She fired a two-over 74 on Friday, and recorded four birdies on the day.

Junior Marie Coors and sophomore Amanda Jakobsson each finished round three tied for 34th on the overall leaderboard with a 227 (+11). Coors fired a two-over 74 on Friday, with two birdies on the back nine. Jakobsson carded a four-over 76 in the third round, and recorded her only birdie of the day on the par-5 18th hole.

Sophomore Marine Arguello posted a five-over 77 in Friday's round, and heads into the last day of competition with a 230 (+14) and tied for 54th on the leaderboard.

As a team, Saint Leo slipped to seventh on the team leaderboard with a three-day score of 896 (+32) – 25 strokes off the pace set by leader Rollins College. The Tars are at 871 (+7) through three rounds, followed by defending national champion Indianapolis at 878 (+14), and Dallas Baptist with 885 (+21).

The Lions shot a nine-over 297 on Friday, and trail sixth-place Grand Valley State by six strokes overall.

Tarleton State's Isabell Jimenez Perea, Findlay's Kasey Petty, and Grand Valley State's Gabrielle Shipley are tied atop the individual leaderboard with a three-under 213 through three rounds.

Saint Leo will tee off for the fourth and final round of the 2016 NCAA championship starting at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time off the no. 10 tee, along with Findlay and Northeastern State (Okla). Eriksen will be the final Saint Leo golfer to tee off when takes to the course in the 8:40 a.m. group.
