Eriksen tied for fourth at D-II women’s golf championship

AURORA, Colo. – Saint Leo University sophomore Vilde Eriksen fired a one-under 71 and stood tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard, after Wednesday's round one at the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship at CommonGround Golf Course.

Eriksen carded three birdies on the front nine – on no. 3, 4, and 9 – and posted a fourth birdie on no. 14. She averaged even par on both par 3 and par 4 holes on the par 72, 6,468-yard CommonGround course.

Sophomore Amanda Jakobsson and junior Sabrina Rumbaugh each fired a five-over 77, and were tied for 38th overall. Junior Marie Coors and sophomore Margine Arguello each shot an eight-over 80, and were tied for 63rd on the leaderboard.

As a team, Saint Leo finished the first round 10th out of 12 teams with a 305 (+17), 15 strokes out of the lead. Nova Southeastern and Rollins were tied for first on the team leaderboard after carding a two-over 290. Dallas Baptist was third overall after shooting a five-over 293.

Nova Southeastern's Mailen Domecq Chantry leads the field of 72 golfers with a three-under 69, while Augustana's Marisa Toivonen and Dallas Baptist's Brinn Fariss were both tied for second with a two-under 70. Eriksen is knotted with Rollins' Lexie Toth for fourth overall.

Saint Leo will tee off for round two starting at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time/10:00 a.m. Eastern Time off no. 10 tee.
